Things have never been better, the love of your life has just proposed and that special day most young women dream of is set for June. All that needs doing now is planning.  Now that’s where the wedding planner comes in.  So what does that leave?  The hen’s party!  Yes, just like the guys and their stag night, the women get to have their last dash at freedom and fun before they tie the proverbial knot, after all it’s your last bid to freedom ... or is it?

Yes, the hen’s party or night, or bachelorette party if you want to give this night a more refined touch to it, should be a night of joy and excitement not one of a last ditch dash at whooping it up one more time as if all life stops after that night because from there on in its hell on wheels. Well okay, maybe I’m a bit over the top there but you get the idea.  

A hen’s party should not be a night where we think we need to take that last jump at a one night stand, or go tell that ‘fat chick’ what we really thought.  Worst still would be to admit to someone else about the crush had in high school.  Oh, and please do not take offense; any fuller bodied women; that comment was not meant to be derogatory or demeaning, just an expression we all know is and has been used both in movies and street, it was only an example.  

Anyway, back to the hen’s night, yeah it should be the most memorable day and night had without surpassing the actual wedding.  Course you can let your hair down and shake it up a bit, but looking at it like life will be drudgery, tied down, a possession or any negative you can coax up, tells you already that this step is not right, not yet anyway. That kind of thing that makes you do something you will regret later, regardless of the good time had.

So when getting ready for a hen’s night out, make sure you are going with a right heart and mind,  you really want a night you can share with your husband one day while sitting by the fire or looking out over the sea at dusk or dawn, recalling those memories you have made over the past fifty years.  The last thing you want is to have a secret that rips you apart and instead of fifty years together, you only spend ten.
